With the emergence of mobile live streaming apps Periscope, Meerkat, Blab, Facebook Mentions and others the natural fit for many brands & marketers would be live streaming conferences and events via a mobile device. The problem is most conferences and events spent years fighting the integration of social media and digital communities into their offline events that live streaming is more change that they don’t understand and are having trouble grasping.
Sadly most conferences and events think that having a hashtag and a big screen that displays live tweets means they’ve leveraged social & digital. . [clickToTweet tweet=”Periscope requires a new approach to connecting offline and online at events. #ThinkLikeAfan” quote=”Periscope requires a new approach to connecting offline and online at communities for brand events. #ThinkLikeAfan”]
With that being said I believe there are brands that get it, as some have recently hired me, but I also believe that live streamers must approach brands, events and thought leaders with the right mindset, strategy and be open to listening and understanding the pain points so they can relate what the true value is of live streaming.
To better understand my thoughts & what I’ve learned from pitching 38 brands on the power of live streaming I decided to do a quick 20 minute Periscope breaking down the in’s and out’s and sharing what I’ll be doing from the IBM event called #IBMinsight this week in Vegas with periscope & live streaming.
